Among wizards, who might mollify their curiosity with any manner of research, the Arcanist is often considered the most preoccupied with the empirical and esoteric research of spellcraft. These wizards value the collection of knowledge, the efficient scribing of spells, and the fundamental properties of magic—which they obsess over so as to bend or break it to their own ends.

Economical Transcription

3rd-Level Arcanist Feature

Your ability to collect, decipher, and recall spells is unmatched. When you finish a short or long rest, you can replace one Arcane cantrip that you know with another cantrip from the Arcane source spell list.

In addition, when you copy a spell into your spellbook, you can attempt to copy that spell with 1 minute of work and 10 gp of materials, regardless of the spells circle. To do so, you must succeed on an Arcana check with a DC of 10 + the spells circle. On a success, the spell is copied flawlessly. On a failure, the spell is not copied, but no materials are wasted. You can attempt an Economical Transcription of a particular spell only once.

Swift Ritual

3rd-Level Arcanist Feature

As an action, you can cast an Arcane ritual that you have scribed within your spellbook, instead of requiring the rituals normal casting time. To do so, the ritual cant be an evocation spell, and it cant have a casting time greater than 10 minutes. You must still provide all components necessary for the casting of the spell. Once used, you cant use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Arcane Conflux

7th-Level Arcanist Feature

Each time you miss a spell attack roll and for each creature that succeeds on a save against a spell you cast, you gain a cumulative +1 bonus to spell attack rolls and your spell save DC, to a maximum bonus of +3, until the end of your next turn. This effect triggers only when you cast a spell of 1st circle or higher.

Eidetic Scribe

11th-Level Arcanist Feature

As a reaction when a creature that you can see and hear casts a spell from the Arcane source list, you can attempt to memorize it. Make an INT (Arcana) check with a DC of 10 + the spells circle. On a success, you can cast that spell as though you have it prepared until you finish a short or long rest.

You can attempt to copy a spell you currently have memorized into your spellbook. On a failure, the memorized spell is lost. You can have only one spell memorized in this way at a time, and each time you memorize a new spell, it replaces the previous one. If you are knocked unconscious or are incapacitated, any spell you have memorized is lost.

When you reach 15th level, you can have up to two spells memorized at one time. If you memorize a new one, the oldest one is lost.

Mastered Spell

15th-Level Arcanist Feature

As part of a long rest, you can select one non-ritual spell of 3rd circle or lower that you have scribed within your spellbook and master it. That spell is always prepared for you and doesnt count against the number of spells you can prepare. You can cast that spell at its lowest circle without expending a spell slot, though you must still supply any spell components. A mastered spell doesnt have to be a spell from your Rote Spell feature (see Players Guide), but it can be.

You can cast your mastered spell this way a number of times equal to your PB, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
