While many wizards isolate themselves in far-flung towers to pursue their esoteric studies, others use their craft in service to their monarch or nation. These mages defend their lieges from magical attacks, perhaps riding with the army to provide magical artillery and support. As an arcane advisor, you stand by the side of your monarch, ready to share your knowledge and magic. This tradition offers a wide breadth of arcana and the ability to form mystical bonds with other creatures, casting spells through them or defending them from hostile magic.

## Expanded Studies
3rd-Level Arcane Advisor Feature
When you select this tradition at 3rd level, Your mind is open to a wider breadth of magical knowledge. Whenever you gain a level in this class (including this level), you can add one additional spell to your spellbook, which doesn’t count against the number of wizard spells you learn each level. You must choose these bonus spells from the abjuration, divination, enchantment, or illusion schools, but they can be on any source’s spell list. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the Arcane spell list, the spell is considered to be on the Arcane spell list for you.
## Mental Insight
3rd-Level Arcane Advisor Feature
As you hone your mind, you study the magical fabric that connects all of creation. You add half your **PB**, rounded down, to any **INT**, **WIS**, or CHA ability check that you make that doesn’t already include your **PB**. In addition, you have advantage on **INT** (Investigation) checks to discern illusions and on **WIS** (Insight) checks to detect lies.
## Eldritch Bond
7th-Level Arcane Advisor Feature
You can construct a magical bond between yourself and another creature, allowing you to render aid and communicate from afar. When you finish a long rest, you can touch one willing creature and establish your Eldritch Bond, which lasts until you are no longer on the same plane of existence as the target or until you are reduced to 0 HP. While linked in this way, you gain the following benefits:
- You always know the general health of the bonded creature and the direction to its location.
- You can cast spells with a range of touch on the bonded creature from a range of 60 feet.
- You can speak telepathically with the bonded creature if you are within 100 feet of each other.
- While you are within 90 feet of your bonded creature, if one of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to magically switch positions, each of you teleporting into the other’s space, provided there is enough room in each space to accommodate each of you.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
## Versatile Arcana
11th-Level Arcane Advisor Feature
You can manipulate the threads of power to cast a limited number of spells without preparation. You can cast one of the spells in your spellbook without needing it to be prepared, but you must still expend an appropriate spell slot. You can do so a number of times equal to your **PB**, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
## Extended Counterspell
15th-Level Arcane Advisor Feature
You add the counterspell spell to your spell book (if it isn’t already). In addition, when you see a creature casting a spell that includes you or the subject of your Eldritch Bond feature, you can choose to use counterspell regardless of range and without it being prepared. You must still expend a spell slot, and you must be aware of the creature casting the spell to use counterspell in this way.
